Calligraphy Study Day — POSTPONED

Please note that due to ongoing uncertainty about travel & other restrictions as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, this event has been postponed. We will reschedule for a time when we are confident that we are able to go ahead and will post an update as soon as we have more information.

This study day will explore calligraphy in Islamic Art and Material Culture and will include presentations from Dr Nur Sobers-Khan, Lead Curator, South Asian Collections at the British Library and Daniel Lowe, Curator, Arabic Collections at the British Library. In addition, participants from the IAMC SSN’s Calligraphy Specialist Support Scheme will share the latest findings and outcomes of their work. There will also be an opportunity to visit the ‘Precious and Rare: Islamic Metalwork from The Courtauld’ exhibition.

The study day will incorporate informal, interactive learning opportunities with practical elements aimed at building the knowledge and confidence of the attendees.

A limited number of travel bursaries are available to help with your travel costs.

We welcome applications for the bursary to cover standard travel and accommodation from those working in a professional capacity with Islamic Art and Material Culture collections in UK museums.
